Summary:

Located in Northeast Alabama, Lake Guntersville State Park is 40 miles East of Huntsville, AL and 90 miles South from Chattanooga, Tn. This was the first visit for us to this campground and it was everything we hoped it would be. We stayed over the Columbus Day weekend, so the campgrounds were very busy with many families taking advantage of the cooler Fall temperatures. The campgrounds are divided into several areas with sites able to accommodate a wide range of campers from primitive tent sites to spacious big rig sites. There are few local attractions outside of the campground, but Chattanooga Huntsville is a short drive away. We stayed from Friday to Monday at a cost of $25.50 for week nights and $33.00 for weekends with full hook-ups. If you're in the Northern Alabama area, Lake Guntersville State Park is a great value and well worth your time to stop for a few days. Cost: 4 Campfires

As with most State Parks, the cost to camp is generally very affordable and Lake Guntersville is no exception. The nightly rate will vary based on the day of the week. For our stay we paid $25.50 for week nights and $33.00 for the weekends.

Campsite Access: 3.5 Campfires

The campground has several Big Rig friendly sites with both pull-thru and back-in campsites. The roads are wide and overall access to the sites is good.

Amenities: 5 Campfires

All sites have 50/30 amp electric, water and some have sewer. Each campsite is gravel or concrete with a picnic table, and fire ring. The campground has miles of hiking and mountain bike trails, a swimming beach and fishing dock. There is access to several bathhouses with coin laundry. Handicap accessible sites are available and pets are welcome.

Cleanliness: 5 Campfires.

The campground is very clean and well maintained. The bath house is cleaned daily, the trash point is well kept, and the dump station is very well maintained.

Privacy & Noise Levels: 5 Campfires

Most sites are fairly close together for a State Park. The noise levels are acceptable with quite hours from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am every day.

Cell Coverage: 2 Campfires

Our cell coverage was fair with 2 bars of Verizon LTE coverage. The signal was adequate for phone calls, internet access and even streaming videos from Netflix and Hulu.
