It’s hard to believe this is our first road trip in 11 months. For most of that time, we’ve been parked on the “injured reserve” list while facing a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Thankfully, with prayers answered and healing complete, it’s time to roll again.

We’ll admit — we felt like rookies! Thankfully, our trusty checklist kept us from leaving half our gear at home. 😂

Our first official stop was the local CAT scales to get updated weight numbers. The Airstream came in at a sleek 6,280 lbs, and our combined rig weighed 14,380 lbs — right where we want to be.

Then came a mandatory stop at Buc-ee’s for fuel, a little shopping, and two chopped brisket sandwiches. Crowded as ever, but still one of our favorites!

We finally made it to our first destination and set up camp 🏕️. Even though we’re a little rusty, it feels incredible to be back on the road, seeing new places and meeting new faces.

At the end of it all, cancer didn’t win — and God is good. ❤️
